Made up of a small team of potters and glazers, the Clay Studio forms and creates anew, continuously, and together. Designing and making is fluid and open, leaving room for creativity, changing our mind, introducing new techniques, and limited, one-of-a-kind pieces.
To create the effect of Sea and Sand, two glazes are sprayed by hand — a skill that requires steadiness and practiced technique. Sand is layered over Hematite, a dark metallic gray. When fired, glazes interact to create a captivating range of colors and textures. On our Shallow Serving Bowl, color and gradation varies beautifully from Sand to misty green and rich metallic grey — due to the nature of the spraying technique, each bowl varies slightly.
Due to the special technique that creates the effect of the Sea and Sand glaze, this piece requires special care.
